A New DISCO for Newly Mainstreamed Districts
TESCO was created to serve the seven tribal agencies and six Frontier Regions that, until 2018, were administered as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. After the 25th Constitutional Amendment merged these areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, electricity distribution responsibility came under TESCO as a distinct DISCO rather than being absorbed into PESCO. Infrastructure in many of these districts is younger than the grid elsewhere in Pakistan: feeder lines, substations, and metered connections are still being expanded, and not every village has a fixed billing address yet.
This shapes the consumer experience. A TESCO online bill may not show up by post for weeks, particularly in remote tehsils. The duplicate copy available through the PITC portal is often the first practical look at the month's charges.
How to Check Your TESCO Bill?
Find the 14-digit reference number on any previous TESCO bill, printed at the top left, or the 10-digit customer ID below it. Type either into the box above with no spaces or dashes. The duplicate loads in seconds. Save it as a PDF with Ctrl+P on desktop, or use the share menu on mobile.
If you have never received a paper bill (a real possibility for newer connections in some areas), contact your nearest TESCO sub-division office in person. They can register the connection in the central system and issue the first bill on the spot.
Reading Your TESCO Bill
The bill carries the standard charge structure used across Pakistan: FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment) varying monthly with fuel costs, FC Surcharge near 43 paisa per unit, GST at 18%, Electricity Duty at 1.5%, and a slab progression where the per-unit cost rises with consumption. Late Payment Surcharge attaches if you miss the due date.
A detail worth knowing for TESCO consumers: the tribal districts have historically been eligible for subsidised tariffs in certain categories, intended to support electrification and economic integration following the FATA merger. If your bill total looks lower than you would expect for your consumption, a subsidy may be applied. Verify the tariff category printed on the bill against your actual usage type, and raise any mismatch at your sub-division office.
How to Pay?
The fastest option is JazzCash or EasyPaisa: Utilities → Electricity → TESCO, enter the reference number, confirm the amount. Every major Pakistani bank (HBL, UBL, MCB, Meezan, Bank Alfalah, NBP) supports the same in their mobile apps. For cash payment, the nearest bank branch or Pakistan Post counter in the district headquarters accepts printed bills.
Connectivity matters. In some TESCO districts, mobile data coverage drops in valleys and remote villages. If you plan to pay through an app, do it before you travel into areas with weak signal.
